About
Through my work, I aim to reveal the poetry of the everyday and the unnoticed, as an exercise in learning to look again at what has always been there, but is rarely truly seen.
When I first held an analogue camera, something remarkable
happened. Looking through the lens, it felt as though I was truly seeing the beauty of the world for the first time. Since then, I have been capturing these moments of wonder in an ever-growing archive of images. They are memories of moments when I felt connected to the world. Because they make me pause. Moments when the world felt, for a brief instant, gentler and lighter than it usually seems to be.
This archive forms the starting point of my practice. The individual images function as building blocks that I continually reconnect with one another. Like an ever-expanding, curated jigsaw puzzle,
I create a new reality. It is a fantasy world into which I can escape, seeking solace in what I experience as an increasingly harsh world.
In my practice, I make a conscious choice to work with analogue photography and Super 8 film. This is not only because of their specific quality, grain and atmosphere, but also because of the meditative calm and slowness that the working process requires.
